Movie Props: Alcohol Lables

For a class group project we were tasked with: creating a fake movie concept, make up hypothetical scenes for the movie, and designing parody printed material that would be found within the scenes in the movie. I created three different labels for alcohol you would possibly see on the shelves in the background at a bar using Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator.

Select Crafted: Watermelon Pucker

This design is a work within its own. I wanted to pull in the steampunk elements of our movies universe in how I designed the logo for the company. Very mechanical, unconventional, and dystopian. Since this is a Bar there are bound to many different types of mixed drinks, so that is what motivated me to create this label. My idea behind the brand itself is as if each different flavor of “pucker” is a different color label to match- almost like Crayola crayons and that style wrapping. I wanted to tie in that “watermelon” with the use of  a smoked out green/silver color. I wanted this type of product to be something more “new” but also cheap like the random brands of bottom shelf liquor you see at a gas station, but somehow is really good.

Viviann Brut

With this label of Brut I really wanted to convey: classic, but ‘you really came to the bar and ordered a glass of overpriced champagne?’ I wanted it to have that luxurious feel with the textured silver foil within the label, with the sultry contrast of the dark label. As if the name of what you are drinking is more important than what you are actually drinking, because everyone in this bar should know you’re drinking brut after all. I continued this idea with making other smokey visual elements within the label that drag your eyes attention to the name on the label. The name is fictional, but I wanted to use something that gave a vixen/luxurious title to it without the name being too old English or too modern as the date says 1799 .

Slovek Vodka

With this label I wanted to convey a form of peculiar but dark sophistication. To convey this I created the logo, with a warped presentation as well as a black & white color gradient, toon add an additional element of peculiarity to the design. To further the idea of dark sophistication I used lots of shadows- created through both the burn tool and filters, and also lots of dark colors and dark tinted foil on the foil elements. I didn’t want this to be like any other SKYY or ABSOLUT vodka I wanted something untraditional, as most vodka bottles do not have a “label” but the design is etched into the bottle. Another additional element of “darkness” that I created was the outside of the foil is almost surrounded in shadows, and there is almost a glimmer of light on the inside- as if from a candle.
