Dante Russo Cigars
For a group project my class was assigned to create a fictional movie, design and later produce props for this movie. The movie idea is Science Fiction with many dystopian elements. Dante Russo Cigars is a brand I created Using Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign, based on a scene where the main character would have a box of these cigars within the study of his mansion.
I wanted these cigars to be unlike any cigar you would see in a smoke shop or at a lounge. Pulling From the Science fiction and space universe that the movie was set within I made the decision to have the tobacco leaves be maroon. Really selling that this was another world- a whole new species of tobacco. Within the branding I kept that maroon color and pulled in alongside some smokey and luxurious colors you find within cigar lounges.
Branding
I focused heavily on the aesthetic of smoking/ cigar smoke as I worked. Cigar lounges had a heavy influence within this brand. Whenever I walk into a cigar lounge its a relaxing experience of its own. Dim lighting, smoke, rich velvet velvet and leather seating and lots of luxurious accents. My goal was to reflect that aesthetic here.
Mood Board
Imediatley I knew I wanted these cigars to be in a velvet black box. To really make the unique color pop and add an additional luxurious element to the packaging. I also included a silver script logo with the slogan etched into the box. Sleek, luxury and unique.
